Inspired by the powerful words of the prayer: “Ben Adam, ma lecha nirdam? Kum kera b’tachanunim” “Son of man, why do you sleep? Arise and call out with supplication.” This painting is a wake-up call. A soulful nudge to step outside, enter the field, and speak to Hashem with honesty and hope. It depicts Yitzchak Avinu walking out into the field to pray for a wife—just as Rivka is already on her way to him. G-d, shown turning away, isn’t absent—He’s already answered. As it’s written: “Before they call, I will answer” (Yeshayahu 65:24). Even when we don’t yet see it, our tefillot are in motion. The answer is often already aligned—waiting just beyond the horizon. This piece invites us to pray not from desperation, but from faith. To trust that what we seek is already unfolding, perfectly timed, and divinely prepared.
