R’ Shayla of Kerestir was a great tzaddik who was there to help any and every Jew who walked by. His chessed was unimaginable and he helped thousands of Jews who needed it. You wouldn’t think he himself lived in a humble home on humble standards when you listen to the stories of the meals he would host and the money and food he distributed to those in need. I chose this style of portraiture to represent the humble lifestyle but unparalleled greatness of R’ Shayla through this painting.
